Chief Executive Officer
Clay Wilkes is the CEO and founder of Galileo and serves on its board as chairman.
Clay founded Galileo in June 2000. Under his leadership, the company has developed the tech that powers the boldest and most exciting fintech companies, financial institutions and investment firms in North America. For nearly 20 years, Clay has been the visionary behind Galileo’s sophisticated payments platform and the company’s long list of innovations and industry firsts.
Clay’s love of technology began in the 1970s while hunkered down in high school and university computer labs in his native Oregon. He launched his professional career developing communications and operating systems for Sperry, IBM and Novell. In 1994 Clay founded I-Link, which developed Voice Over IP and the world’s first switchless voice network. As CEO, he took I-Link public and authored patents for VOIP.
Together with his wife, Clay founded The Galileo Foundation, which provides opportunities for Galileo employees, clients, partners and their families to engage directly with people worldwide who are suffering from a lack of economic opportunity. The Foundation also participates in humanitarian projects in Salt Lake City, South America and Southeast Asia.
A dedicated humanitarian and environmentalist, Clay points to Galileo’s Core Values, which he authored, as the embodiment of who he is and what he believes as a business leader.
The Wilkes have 10 children and five grandchildren.
Clay was educated at the University of Oregon and Brigham Young University.
